What
is your orientation/approach? |
| |
My
main training is in the Cognitive
Behavioral and Dialectical
Behavioral therapies. I also have an extensive background in Harm
Reduction Psychotherapy and motivational
interviewing. As an University of Minnesota graduate, I am strongly
into psychological assessment, especially when it is incorporated
into all aspects of treatment. |

|
Why
did you go into psychology? |
| |
I
decided to become a therapist when I was about 14 years old, after
reading works by Freud
and Jung. Over
the years my desire to become a clinician has moved beyond the enjoyment
of introspection
and pure intellectual curiosity. Today I see my clinical work more
as an art form and a way to take a stance on broader societal issues. |

|
What
kind of people do you work with? |
| |
I
work with all kinds of people. Most of my clients are adults and adolescents
although I do occasionally take children. The difficulties people
present with vary in severity. Some of my clients want to look at
many aspects of their life and learn more about who they are, while
others want to focus on a specific issue such as depression, anxiety,
trauma, burnout, or substance use. I find that with most people, taking
the time at the beginning of our relationship to build trust and to
develop tangible goals, works best. |

am a native Russian speaker, born and raised in the former Soviet

I have been living in the United States since the early 90s. |
